Defence tech is one of Ukraine's priority development sectors

Let's discuss the challenges CTOs and tech company founders face in the defence industry.

Current statistics:

  • In 2025, Ukraine is expected to produce 4.5 million drones and 3,000 domestically manufactured missiles.
  • 30% of the weapons used by the Ukrainian military at the frontline in 2024 were made in Ukraine. Over three years of full-scale war, Ukraine has built a competitive defence industry now entering the global arms market.
  • The Ukrainian defence industry was valued at $1 billion in 2022, grew to $20 billion in 2024, and is projected to reach $35 billion in 2025.
  • This figure aligns with international aid, which amounted to approximately $35 billion in 2024.
  • In 2024, defence tech startups secured approximately $59 million in funding, accounting for ~13% of all venture capital investment in Ukraine that year.
